My dogo argentino gave birth to 7 puppies and they are for sale. A guy bought two of my dogs and now he contacted me and told me he wants to sell one of the puppies because two dogs are too hard for him to take care of. Should I take one back and give him a refund or should I offer to help him sell the puppy? The puppies are perfectly healthy

Refund the money and get the puppy back. Then You can find the right home for it. You won't know where it's going if the buyer sells it on. Taking responsibility for the pups you breed however old they are is part of being a good breeder, especially with a breed like yours.

i would accually offer to refund his money and take back your puppy. Thats what responsbile breeders do. They also make contracts that if the person can no longer keep the puppy at any age it comes back to you and you will find that puppy a home. HOwever if he doesnt want to you cant make him without a contract agreeing to it. But i would at least offer this way you can see who has your puppy and decide on the next owner.

There are a lot of people on here saying what reputable breeders do.

Do you consider yourself a reputable breeder or did Argentino just get pregnant and have puppies so you sold them? If you did this as a hobby and were responsible about it this question probably wouldn't be up, so....

Yes. Give the refund and take the puppy back, then find that puppy a good home.

Then get your dog fixed, please.

You had those puppies created so you are responsible for them for their entire lives. You should have insisted on a buyback clause in the puppy contract because it would have forever required him to offer you the puppy before attempting to dispose of it. Now, you are ethically required to buyback the puppy and next time do a more thorough interview of potential new owners. Read about the breed club's Code of Ethics, did you comply with them? http://www.dogousa.org/DACA/code_of_ethics.htm

If you care for your puppies, of course, get him back - asap!! If he's looking for a refund (which he undoubtedly is) make it, less 'boarding fees' (minimal, but he needs to pay you something imvho) for the days you have to keep the puppy until he is homed again.

You could of course offer to help find a new home if you are unable to take the puppy back, but there is a risk here that your puppy will go, and you won't know where.

Reputable breeders never sell two littermates together.
I would try and get both puppies back and rehome them more carefully with contracts!
As the new owner has only had the puppies for one week, I would more concerned about getting them back and would refund the money for both to make sure I did.

I suggest you then get the bltch spayed to save this happening again and leave breeding to reputable and experienced breeders.

The answer to your question boils down to the terms and conditions of the sale. Also are the terms and conditions written some place and did he/she sign agreeing to the terms and conditions. Verbal terms are hard to hold up in court. He said, She said. If in your terms and conditions is states he is to return the puppy to you than yeah, a refund is in order. However, if there were none.... ....than he/she is free to sell or give away the puppy as they wish. If you feel they are unable to properly sell the puppy to a good home than you can always offer a refund but they have the right to refuse your offer. My suggestion is to go with the terms and conditions first (if there is any in writing) if not...go with your gut and try to work something out with the OWNER.

Take the puppy back and give him a full refund..since it is only about a week.
Don't allow people to buy more than one puppy from you because as you have
seen, while they seem cute.. it is actually hard work to raise two and train at the
same time.

It would be best for you to find a suitable home for the puppy. Really you should
have drawn up a contract on what to do in situations like this.
Breeders like to know where their puppies are.. which is why they will say no selling or
passing onto a 3rd party. Puppies must be returned to them.

Only a week ago, I would take the puppy back and give him a refund. But I would probably give him the refund thru reselling the dog, so he would have to wait. No idea what hes been feeding or how hes been taking care of it. Id hate to give a full refund and then the dog die on me a few days later.
